We’re excited to announce that VIVA Wellness Nurse Esmerelda is on her way to certification in Brazilian Lymphatic Drainage massage under an expert therapist in Beverly Hills! This new service will benefit our neighbors in Brookfield and Southeast Wisconsin.

Detox by Rebecca/Anastasia Zur

This exclusive training is completed under the world-renowned Brazilian expert Rebecca Faria, the founder of Detox by Rebecca. With over 12 years of experience in lymphatic massage and a Master’s degree in Integrative Wellness, she is as dedicated to transforming bodies and helping people achieve their wellness goals as we are at VIVA Wellness! (See a recent Forbes magazine article Detox, De-Puff And De-Bloat: Easy Tips From A Top Lymphatic Expert featuring Ms. Faria.)

Rebecca didn’t stop at just promoting well-being through traditional lymphatic drainage. She wanted to combine these benefits with aesthetics, resulting in a more effective method than any existing holistic treatment. After years of research, she developed new techniques and found the perfect technique for body contouring.

She now heads a luxurious spa in Beverly Hills. Her Brazilian lymphatic drainage treatment Detox by Rebecca® method has gained recognition, with features in big-name magazines. Her esteemed clientele includes celebrities like Ariana Grande, Hailey Bieber, Anne Hathaway, Paris Hilton, Jennifer Aniston, and of course the Kardashians. Due to a growing demand for their services, they have a waiting list of 4,000 women. VIVA Wellness Nurse Esmerelda was carefully selected for her prestigious training program. And now, she’s been extensively trained in Rebecca’s exclusive method and delivers the same exceptional treatment to our clients here in Brookfield, Wisconsin! VIVA Wellness is the ONLY clinic certified to offer this amazing method of lymphatic drainage treatment in the entire Midwest!

What Is Brazilian Lymphatic Drainage and how is it different from traditional lymphatic drainage?

Traditional Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) was established in France by Emil and Estrid Vodder in the 1930s. It evolved in Brazil to combine traditional techniques with contouring and myofascial release, targeting bloating, puffiness, and water retention. Not only does it help reduce cellulite, but it also energizes the body and mind.

This incredible technique is mandatory after cosmetic procedures in Brazil. By targeting the lymph fluid trapped between cells and in the tissue, lymphatic drainage stimulates the lymph nodes to eliminate toxins from the body.

The lymphatic system plays a vital role in our health, carrying excess fluid, waste, and toxins throughout the body. In some people, the lymphatic system can become impaired, causing fluid build-up and unpleasant symptoms such as swelling, fatigue, and inflammation.

Brazilian lymphatic drainage takes a holistic approach, starting by stimulating the lymph nodes in key areas of the body. By using gentle pressure, it promotes a healthy lymph flow and encourages the release of toxins. This unique pumping technique allows your lymph to distribute vital nutrients throughout your body.

Benefits of Brazilian Lymphatic Drainage Treatment

You should feel some immediate benefits after your first Brazilian lymphatic drainage session. These include:

Body Detox

Lymphatic drainage massages effectively eliminate excess body fluids that often harbor harmful toxins. Targeted pressure techniques unlock the natural lymph flow in your body to unblock passageways and improve circulation. This allows your lymph system to naturally flush waste and toxins from your body, making you feel refreshed and energized.

Reduced Cellulite

In a groundbreaking study, researchers discovered that Brazilian MLD reduced leg circumference and significantly improved the appearance of cellulite. The treatment involved one-hour lymph drainage sessions performed over 10 days.

While the participants in this study were not obese, it is worth noting that obesity, edema, lymphedema, and lipedema are commonly associated with cellulite. Obesity can exacerbate lipedema, lymphedema, and cellulite.

When treated with MLD, patients with cellulite associated with lymphedema experienced significant improvements in both conditions. Similarly, obese patients who lost weight saw reductions in cellulite comparable to those achieved through cellulite-specific treatments.

The benefits of lymph drainage for cellulite reduction can be long-lasting, with maintenance for at least five years, provided that body weight is controlled and individuals do not have edema or lipedema. This means if you maintain a healthy lifestyle, Brazilian lymphatic drainage massage can be a worthwhile investment for your long-term appearance and health.

Improved Skin Complexion

This practice clears away toxins beneath the skin’s surface, promoting blood flow, smoothing features, and enhancing your complexion for a more beautiful appearance. If you struggle with dull skin, lymphatic drainage is a must!

Brazilian MLD restores energy and vitality to your skin, reducing the appearance of dark circles and puffiness around the eyes. Say goodbye to morning puffiness and hello to refreshed, rejuvenated skin.

You may also see a more youthful appearance with lymphatic drainage. By targeting sagging muscles and boosting the skin’s natural collagen production, Brazilian MLD adds fullness and improves density and elasticity to your facial features.

MLD also helps eliminate impurities and banish acne breakouts. By improving lymphatic and blood circulation, this massage technique helps your body eliminate acne-causing toxins from beneath the skin’s surface.

Lymphatic Drainage Boosts Metabolism and Weight Loss

Not only does Brazilian lymphatic drainage help detoxify your body, but it also boosts your metabolism. The lymphatic system can sometimes become clogged with toxins and inflammation, leading to a slowed metabolism and a compromised immune system. By stimulating lymph node drainage, this technique helps speed up your metabolism and promotes overall health and well-being. The lymphatic system filters metabolic waste, which is eliminated through the kidneys and liver.

Keeping your lymphatic system healthy and balanced can enhance your metabolism and increase your body’s ability to burn fat even while at rest. Unlike other massages that may decrease metabolic rate and contribute to weight gain, lymphatic drainage therapy supports weight loss by revving your metabolism.

How to Prepare for Brazilian Lymphatic Drainage Treatment

Once you’ve booked your Brazilian LDM at VIVA Wellness, we recommend doing a little prep to make the most of your session:

1) Make sure you’re hydrated

Drinking enough water is crucial before a lymphatic drainage treatment. Aim for eight 8-ounce glasses of water daily, including before your appointment. Staying hydrated helps the detox process flow smoothly and enhances its effectiveness in removing toxins from your body.

2) Don’t eat a big meal beforehand

While water is essential, it’s best to avoid large meals before your lymphatic drainage treatment. Opt for small snacks or portions instead. A full stomach can make the treatment uncomfortable and hinder toxin drainage from the abdomen and surrounding organs.

3) Dress comfortably

If you’re uncomfortable removing your clothing during the treatment, wear lightweight and loose-fitting garments that allow easy access for the treatment. Alternatively, you can request the use of a sheet. Communication with your VIVA Wellness nurse is key to ensuring your comfort during the session.

4) Inform us about your medications and health conditions

Certain drugs can be metabolized faster during lymphatic drainage, leading to increased drainage from your body. If you take post-surgical drugs or pain medications, let us know when you schedule your appointment.

5) Reschedule your treatment if you’re sick

If you’re feeling unwell before your appointment, it’s best to call and reschedule. Lymphatic drainage therapy is not recommended during illness, as it may indicate an impaired lymphatic system. Take care of yourself and reschedule once you’re feeling better.

What to Do After Your Lymphatic Drainage

Light-headedness is a possible side effect after any type of lymphatic drainage treatment, due to increased blood flow and overall relaxation. Stay hydrated afterward to combat any thirst or fatigue.

Remember, it’s important to avoid alcohol and recreational drugs the night before and after your session. Your liver plays a crucial role in detoxifying the lymphatic system, so it’s important to ease its burden as much as possible.

After your treatment, continue to prioritize your body’s well-being by staying hydrated and maintaining a healthy diet. Dry brushing is also recommended for maximum benefits.

To facilitate detoxification, engage in 10 to 15 minutes of gentle movement after the treatment. This can be a leisurely walk, light yoga, or any activity that increases your breathing and blood flow. It’s an important step to support the effectiveness of the lymphatic drainage.

Since you may feel fatigued after the lymphatic drainage as your body eliminates toxins, plan for rest and relaxation for the remainder of the day. Take this time to unwind, watch a movie, or indulge in a favorite book. By the following day, you should feel refreshed and rejuvenated.

How long will the effects of Brazilian Lymphatic Drainage last?

The effects of lymphatic drainage treatments can vary in duration, typically lasting up to 10 days. However, individual experiences may differ. Factors such as frequency of sessions, overall health, and lifestyle can influence how long the results last. Incorporating lymphatic drainage into your self-care routine will maximize its long-term benefits. Check out our multi-session packages for a better value on continued care.
